Book Signing: Crazy Horses - the History of British Drag Racing at NHRA Museum

Posted January 18, 2010

POMONA, CA - The official American West Coast launch of the Haynes Publishing 224 page book Crazy Horses – the history of British drag racing, will be held at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, 1101 West McKinley Avenue, Pomona, on Friday, Feb.  12th, at 5 p.m. before the Museum’s Night of Champions presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California.

Europe’s first five second runner Peter Crane (the first outside the USA; put down in 1976) is joining author Brian Taylor at the signings, with others.

“The NHRA and American drag racers have been involved in British drag racing for many years. Wally and Barbara Parks took a team across in 1964 to support Sydney Allard’s British International Drag Festival series and there has been regular appearances and involvement right through to the present day," Tony Thacker, Executive Director of the Museum said. "Past NHRA Vice President Carl Olson played a key role in the 1990s when he was elected President of the FIA Drag Racing Commission. Crazy Horses covers these links in detail, so it is fitting that the official American West Coast launch should be at the Parks Museum and we are pleased to host it”.

Author Brian Taylor said, “I must thank Tony Thacker for arranging things so that the launch could take place at the Museum and at such a prestigious event. It is a great honour. This particularly applies to those making the trip from Europe and who have already collected many signatures at the two Santa Pod launches held in 2009.”
